Minutes
Council Meeting was called to order by Grand Knight Shannon Godwin at 7:30.
Roll Call of Officers: All were present except Financial Secretary, Outside Guard, Recorder and One Trustee.
Membership Committee Report: Have one new member transfer in. He is Joseph Fernandez.
Ken Wiley reported on the 4th Degree. Assembly donated to the military chaplain fund of $300 dollars. There is a 4th degree exemplification the 1st of March in Algona and there will be one at the state convention in May in Des Moines. On Nov 9th there will be a dinner and silent auction in Altoona for Inner vision. The Assembly is collecting fruit juice for the St. Joseph Shelter.
Grand Knight Report:
Several of the Knights from Assumption were on Catholic Radio this past week to help in their fall fundraising. They were Mark, Shannon, Joe, Travis and Jodi. Shannon thanked all who called and made a donation.
Coats for Kids: The coats are in and the Council has 24 new coats to pass out. Plus, the 12 left over from last year. Travis will check with Polk City School. Shannon will check with Woodward-Granger and Troy will do the same for DCG.
Shannon then gave a report on how the Bingo went for Granger Days. He had $40 in seed and spent about One Hundred in supplies. Fun was had but not much money made. The supplies were not used and were returned for a full refund.
District Deputy Report:
Jason reiterated that one new member per Council per month is still our goal. Still need to promote the Knights to the men of the parish. He wants our Council to make the goal of Star Council. He also reminded us about becoming a Insurance member.
Treasures Report;
There is $8055 in the checking account and $12,900 in the Endowment Fund. Paid $415 for lights for the school but it wasn’t needed. Ken Wiley was reimbursed $41.49. On the pancake breakfast grossed $641 and served 113 people. We made $2565 on the PPID fundraiser (tootsie roll drive) and next meeting need to decide how that money will be distributed.
Financial Secretary Report: none
New Business:
Motion to send $250 to Catholic Radio seconded and approved. There was a motion to spend $150 and the $415 that wasn’t used on the lights for locks for the kitchen cabinets. It was seconded and approved with one negative vote.
Shannon mentioned that on 10/29 Steve was going to give a presentation on K of C for recruiting however found out that date will not work. So, the meeting was rescheduled for 11/5. The social will start at 6 with the meal at 6:30 and dinner at 7.
