Meeting was called to order by GK Wiese at 730pm.
Officers present: GK Wiese, DGK Smith, Treasurer Martin, Chancellor Henkels, Warden Hauser, Inside Guard Welch, Outside Guard Watznauer, 3 year Trustee Stanislav, Lecturer Wright, and Father Dom. Total in attendance including officers was 21.
Opening prayer – Our Father
Pledge of Allegiance was recited
GK Wiese put out a big thanks to Brother Welch for his preparation of dinner before the meeting. The dinner was Oktoberfest themed and included Brats and roasted veggies with assorted Oktoberfest beers and water. It was very well received.
Chaplains Message – Deacon Wright emphasized putting out your flag as it is Godly. How our flag represents its ties to God – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Reading of the Minutes – Brother Spellerberg made a motion to wave and Brother Welch seconded that motion. The vote was unanimous, and the reading of the minutes were waived.
GK Report – Covid has affected our meetings being face to face. Our activity and fundraising have been pretty much non-existent. With limited opportunities going forward we are hopeful that by the time Lent arrives things can be returning to normal. GK Wiese is encouraging any Knight that has not yet advanced to higher degrees, including 4th degree, to do so. The online membership/exemplification opportunity is rather painless. Also, our GK has suggested that we have a promotional weekend for potential new Knights. Unfortunately, with light attendance, there are very few new faces. He suggested to possibly having an email campaign or suggested that we as a group, or if you want to have a more private discussion about this, get with GK Wiese.
District Deputy Report – Brother Dennis Westover introduced the new District Deputy Warden Brother Bill Gorius. There are listening sessions across the state. GK Wiese will get the dates and sent them out. This is an opportunity to talk about the Knights doing things and reconnecting. There is a mission called His Vision Your Mission for Fr. McGivney scheduled for October 31st. It is for the beatification of Fr. McGivney. Fr. McGivney’s first miracle was the healing of an individual with a terminal heart condition. Brother Westover also mentioned that the online exemplifications have no set times, and you can do them whenever convenient for you.
Treasures Report – Brother Martin reported the checking and savings account has a balance of $3568. The Geneser account has a balance of $15357. The CD has a balance of $17434. All scholarships have been paid – $6500. Also, the Ghana scholarship of $2500 has been paid as well.
Financial Secretary Report – Brother Letch was absent, but it was reported that we have 148 members and our Council is in good standing.
Retention Committee – No report
Reading of Bills and Communications – Chancellor Joe Henkels was awarded Knight of the Year from Innervisions. Congratulations Joe! The therapy garden at the VA is almost done. Nick Bermel is doing work there for his Eagle Scout. The Landscape company is working to get things done, work’s moving along nicely. By the end of the year the project should be 90% finished. There has been $180000 raised so far for the project. Voted to allow Rodney (VA patient) to do a gravity rock.
Officer meetings – None planned.
CPID – Campaign for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Tootsie Rolls). Fareway needs to be contacted, and instructions have been given to GK with procedures on doing this.
Breakfasts – October 25th after 10am mass we will be preparing pre-packaged to go breakfast burritos. We will use the kitchen to make them, hand out under the awning and possibly by other exits. It will be a free will donation. Brother Spellerberg and Brother Elbert will organize, and helpers will be petitioned in a mass email before the event.
New Business – Brother Tatz has a Don’t Worry Retire Happy program. GK Wiese will send out his email with information. GK received a request for a wheelchair fund which other councils have contributed to. GK Wiese has declined doing this at this time – put on back burner. No other new business, except the next meeting will be on 11/19.
Conclusion – Brother Henkels wanted to convey a big thank you from Fr. Dom for our Ghana Scholarships and the well project contribution. Fr. Dom is thought of very highly by the Bishop and other priests in Ghana. Along those lines, the well project began because of Fr. Dom becoming sick from the water there. Brother Welch announced that next month’s meeting meal will be a Thanksgiving Feast. Goat, pork chops, stuffing, garlic potatoes, and corn casserole. A reminder that we must clean up and sanitize before we leave. Brother Welch also asked us for prayers for his son Anthony, as he has discerned out of Friars.
Good of the Order – Tom Stahowick (Chemo and radiation), Don Beneventi (home from the hospital), and Tom Manning (Covid), wife Mary passed away.
Keep in our thoughts and prayers – Dave Nixon, Mary Anne Richards, and Mia Evans.
Closing Prayer – Guardian Angel
Meeting adjourned at 812 pm.
