Shannon Godwin talked about the 5th annual Hot Rods and Hogs which will be held on Saturday, August 4th. The Person with Intellectual Disabilities (PID) Tootsie Roll Drive will also be held on August 4th. We need lots of help, and Shannon has sent out a sign up genius request for volunteers. If we don’t get enough help with the Tootsie Roll drive we may need to forgo the Fareway location in Grimes.
Treasures report: $6,402 in checking, $8,000 in Bill Geneser donated scholarship fund CD, and $16,700 in endowment CD. $800 in checking has previously been allocated ($300 PID, $500 Mary’s meals), so there is $5,602 in available bunds in checking.
District Deputy report: State family meeting indicated there will be a new format for reporting council activities with fewer categories. There is upcoming officer training available for Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, and Financial Secretary.
We had $200 profit from the last breakfast (breakfast sandwiches). The profit was low, but the expenses were high, and we have lots of supplies purchased for future breakfasts. Our next breakfast will be a pancake breakfast during Granger Days, Saturday, August 25th from 8-10 AM.
Joe Henkels talked about Mary’s Meals. Funds are being raised to help with advertising and organization. We have already contributed $500 to the cause. Waukee council recently contributed $250 as well. There are opportunities here to get personally involved.
Kendal talked about the upcoming Christ Our Life Conference which will be held September 29 & 30 starting at 8 AM daily. Tickets are on sale now, and they are still looking for volunteers. Check out http://www.christourlifeiowa.com/
Dale Limoges talked about an upcoming spiritual formation program. On Mondays starting July 30th, there will be a 5 part program “A Biblical Walk Through the Mass”. Also there will be a 54 day Rosary Novena starting August 15th running through October 12. Wednesday, August 15th is also the Feast of the Assumption, and we have a meal served following mass that night.
We have been setting up and taking down tables for funeral luncheons lately. This is a great service that we can provide for the church. It does not cost us anything, and it is not a big effort if enough people show up to help. If only 1 or 2 people show up it can be a laborious task. Please make an effort to respond to Kendall’s E-mail requests and help out when possible.
Meeting adjourned 8:35 PM.
