Assumption Knights of Columbus Meeting Minutes – February 20, 2020.
Meeting preceded by Rosary, Mass, and meal.
Meeting called to order 7:25 PM
Roll call – Not present: Advocate: Bill Grell, and Trustee: Travis Risvold.
Mary Herrmann made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes, Ken Wiley seconded the motion; motion passed.
Chaplains message (Dec. Dennis): Dr. Dominic and group will be heading to Ghana March 2nd. They are collecting medical supplies to donate. They are in need of blood pressure cuffs, blood glucose meters, etc. As the catechumens prepare to take their baptismal vows, the whole church community should prepare to renew their baptismal vows.
Grand Knight’s Report: It is a busy time. Thank you for all you do such as helping set up and tear down for funeral luncheons.
District Deputy’s Report: Dennis talked about “Into the Breach”. This 12 part series can be found at https://www.kofc.org/en/campaigns/into-the-breach.html. There is a 4th degree ceremony March 28th at OLIH Ankeny.
Treasures Report (Paul): $6,358 checking, $17,434 CD, and $7,160 Geneser Scholarship CD.
Financial Secretary Report (Tom): ~40 members still remaining to pay dues.
January Breakfast net profits ~$500. We need an assistant breakfast director to help Larry. Next scheduled breakfast is during Granger Days in August.
Volunteer hours: Not only did our council turn in over 3,000 volunteer hours related to Knights activities, our members reported over 4,000 personal volunteer hours.
Devine Mercy donation of $250 was approved.
St. Theresa Gala donation of $250 was approved.
Need to get tootsie roll order submitted (Travis will take care of this).
There was an officers meeting on February 1st. Things discussed were:
Fish shack preparations.
Eliminate Fareway account (unneeded risk).
Get Ken Welch a credit card for charging Knights food expenses.
Hot Rods & Hogs is planned for August 8th and will benefit Social Services of Woodward Granger.
Advertise the benefits of donations at fish frys (Respect for life, homeless outreach, Mary’s Meals, Joppa, scholarship fund, global outreach, parish support, prison outreach).
The 2020 Fish Heads are: Merlyn Wiese, Tom Letsch, Dave Watznauer, and Doug Elbert.
The list is out for kids to sign up for volunteering at fish frys.
We are going to try changing the order of the serving line, and have the fish served near the end of the line in hopes of serving less fish.
