Treasurer’s Report – $4,551.50 checking, $13,018 endowment. $3,000 moved out of endowment to pay for monument. $325 profit for the Feast of the Assumption dinner.
Shannon Godwin moved that all the profits go back to the church. Motion passed.
Tom Harmsen (member of the St. Francis K of C Council) reported on the Granger Nursing Home. Primarily he was looking for a more firm volunteer base.
PID (Tootsie Roll) Report. State Fair Saturday (8/20) from 9-3. $1,300 raised from Fareway and Caseys during Hot Rods and Hogs.
Shannon Godwin reported on Hot Rods and Hogs. It was a success. We had ~73 cars, more than $2,000 in income, and $1245 in profit. Latter in the meeting, Shannon moved to donate $1,120 in profits to Granger VSS once established as an official non-profit. Motion passed.
Kendall Geneser raised the issue of the extended help that is needed during the Hot Rods and Hogs and Tootsie Roll Drive. We talked about holding these events on different days, but it was pointed out that having both of these events coincide with the 141 Garage Sale was a big benefit because of the increased traffic. The real issue is that we need more volunteer participation. We need a concerted effort to recruit new bodies and encourage participation. Paul Hauser was nominated to lead this effort.
Ken Welch reported that Anthony (Brother Pier Giorgio Maria, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal) has taken his first vows and will be back home on August 22nd. There will be a party at church on Saturday, August 27th at 6pm. The Knights are paying the church for rental of the gym for the party. Ken requested some funding for the party, and had some immediate donations. Marty Herrmann, Jodi Bermel, and Paul Hauser each stepped up with a $100 donation.
Larry Spellerberg reported on Christians at risk charity. Primary danger is ISIS. ISIS targets Christians with the goat of destroying Christianity. There are at least 1,131 Christian martyrs.
We talked about the need for flags to drape the bodies of deceased veterans at the VA. Apparently the need is less than originally thought because the flags can be reused. Ken Wiley will research this.
Kendall mentioned that the Hot Rods and Hogs signs are in storage, but may need to be moved if the storage facility fills up.
Kendall’s “Big Idea”: Let’s host a pizza dinner for the homeless. Rock Power Pizza was suggested. Ken Welch moved to investigate this, Marty Herrmann seconded. Motion passed.

Volunteers receive a $10 discount for the conference http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aafaa2aa3f94-ch Jodi is on a committee: Consecration to the Holy Family. http://iowakofc.org/profiles/blogs/christ-our-life-conference-and-consecration-to-the-holy-family They are planning on 10,000 people for the conference.
